Everyday Glassware Made for Everyday Life
Glassware is something you use every day, all day long. It should be something you enjoy. These very classic Duralex glasses check all of the boxes for me: they clean well, are sturdy, look nice, are modern and timeless at the same time (how is that even possible?), and are pretty inexpensive. We have the 16 oz. and 8.75 oz. versions, although they come in several useful sizes.
Of course, we're not alone in our adoration of these historic glasses. Their fame dates back to the 1950's Duralex came back around 2010 and has been steadily regrowing in popularity since.
Their fame and affection comes from all corners of the world -- from barrooms to grand estates, and just about everything in between. Above all else, their durability is what makes them most famous. They have been referred to as "hammers" or "the glasses that bounce" and are nearly unbreakable. With our four kids and countless things flying through the air, we can attest to their strength.
I love the charming story of French school boys and girls who would play a game with their cafeteria Duralex glasses. They would look at the number imprinted on the bottom (from 1 to 48) to determine who had the lowest and would therefore had the duty of getting water for the table.
