Valentine's Gifts for the "Big" Little Kid in Your House

Valentine's Gifts for the "Big" Little Kid in Your House

My seven year old son, Jack, is a big kid. Don't tell him otherwise. He is practically one of the adults, which is why I think it is so hard for him to comprehend why we won't give him an Apple watch or an iPhone (?!). This Valentine's day, I am picking out something sweet for that big kid (while secretly knowing he is still my little baby).

Jack is due for a new backpack, and this one gets all the cool points. Not only is it Star Wars but it's specifically a Darth Vader backpack, so it gets his approval, and it is stylishly done so I love it, too. The company, State Bags, donates a bag packed with school essentials to a local (Brooklyn) child in need with every bag purchased. Amazing.

A triceratops eraser and pencils that never need to be sharpened because sharpening is such a drag.

Some cool socks to pull up and wear with shorts. It's a thing. (Here are two more fun pairs: tall pair with stripes, bright blue pair).

Interesting puzzles and challenges are really fun right now. This old-school Where's Waldo? book is updated with a few more things to find but in the large format we all know and love.

Also, here are a few gift ideas for the littlest Valentine's.
