Seven Cute (and Durable!) Shoes for Kids

Seven Cute (and Durable!) Shoes for Kids

My four kids are hard on shoes. I mean HARD ON SHOES. Plus, their shoes are often handed down between children (some pairs even make it from my older son to my girls!). I have made it my personal mission to find attractive kids shoes that don't cost a small fortune and also stand the test of time. Here are seven kids shoes that are as cute as they are durable.

Keds x Rifle Paper Co.

I have a love affair with stationery products, and when one of my favorite brands collaborated with Keds, I was quick to purchase a pair for each of my three girls. To my surprise and delight, the shoes are just as dependable as the Keds of my youth. Even with the white background, they hold up well to dirt and play. I wish they had even more Keds x Rifle Paper Co. designs.

New Balance Velcro Sneakers

We have had a variety of New Balance sneakers and they have held up well to Jack's outdoor lifestyle (read: dirt). We splurged on a pair of J. Crew exclusives. I loved the style, so I justified the extra cost, but you can't go wrong with any New Balance sneaker.

Puma Suede Classic Sneaker

Pumas were my son's favorite shoes, and because they lasted so well, we were always happy to buy them. One of his red pairs stayed in such great shape that Rosie is now wearing them, three years later.

Salt Water Sandals

I remember these sandals from my youth on the East Coast, and there's a reason why they have stayed around since the 1940s. They are amazing. My girls have worn them in water, sand, dirt, and they always clean up and look nice, even in white! I have ordered them every summer season and fully anticipate doing so for many years to come.

Native Shoes

The stylish Crocs... I am stubborn and refuse to buy Crocs, but when they are designed to be a cute sneaker or deck shoe, I am in! Our Natives lasted well throughout the summer and pass the put-it-on-yourself test. We'll be ordering more this summer.

Vans Classic Checkerboard

You just can't go wrong with Vans. Everyone in our house owns a pair, even 18-month-old Sadie. They are classic and so, very durable. This checkerboard is an annual shoe, and the little kid velcro styles are great for our little girls.
